Stores Team Leader

The purpose of the role is to be fully competent in covering the Raw Materials and Finished Goods Stores Supervisors, as well as being able to support in the Shipping Department, when required. This is a crucial role for succession planning within the Stores and Shipping function.

 Responsibilities:

The Stores Team Leader is accountable for:

Continuous Improvement

  • Under the guidance of the Line Managers, take a ‘hands on’ leading role in implementing agreed CI initiatives.
  • Report any CI possibilities or initiatives, with costings where possible and if/when agreed, under the guidance of the Line Managers, take a ‘hands on’ leading role in implementation.
  • Adopt and demonstrate a CI mindset – support initiatives proposed by team and encourage suggestions.

PI Count / Stock Integrity & Management

  • Assist Line Managers carry out PI counts to agreed schedules and more importantly, assist with investigating high value stock differences.
  • Assist with the roll out of Epicor driven PI counts.
  • Support the Line Manager in identifying ‘Root Causes’ of errors and help implement changes to improve stock integrity.
  • Ensure inventory control processes and initiatives are accurately followed and reported.
  • Transfer FGS Stocks and completed repairs between two warehouses.
  • Maintain the “Live Data” hatch transaction system.
  • Analyse relevant transaction data.

Work Allocation

  • Allocate work and monitor output in the absence of the Stores Supervisor.
  • Oversee the sub-con work process from kitting, serial number allocation, labour recovery and sorting with Elcometer driver or Shipping Department, as required.
  • Ensure staff adhere to training and SOP processes, highlighting any non-conformances.
  • Support training of new recruits in to the department.

Assist With General Co-Ordination Of Departments

  • Use of own initiative and experience to be able to see what needs doing on a flow basis. i.e. overflow management, part re-location, health and safety, house-keeping.
  • Assist in writing SOP’s, procedures and instructions for all tasks required for the department.
  • Escalation of HR issues or similar.
  • Deal with ad-hoc queries.
  • Equipment maintenance in line with regulatory requirements – FLT Service, FLT Training and LOLER Certification.
  • Monitor and implement immediate corrective actions for any breach of H&S including, but not exclusively:
    o Use of PPE.
    o Slip and trip hazards.
    o Manual handling practices.
    o Near miss accidents.
  • Housekeeping – Maintain a high level of housekeeping by implementing weekly walking tours and logging outcomes and corrective actions on a visual information notice board (5S). The standards we walk past are the standards we accept.

Shipping

  • Provide cover for holidays / absence.
  • Liaise with the UK and Export Sales Teams to ensure all orders are processed OTIF.
  • Liaise with Finance regarding any customers on credit hold.
  • Obtain best price for shipments by obtaining quotes from relevant suppliers.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant legislation regarding e.g. lithium battery transportation.
  • Liaise with transport provider to escalate issues promptly.
